* What is the purpose of The First Tee?
The First Tee is an initiative of the World Golf Foundation.The focus is to give young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship.
The mission of The First Tee is:
To impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character-development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
* What is a Chapter of The First Tee?
A Chapter is a non-profit, tax exempt entity granted a license to promote The First Tee brand and to use The First Tee curriculum to conduct The First Tee Life Skills Experience at facilities and affiliates.

* What is The First Tee Life Skills Experience?
The Life Skills Experience is one of the unique features that separates The First Tee from many other junior golf programs. The First Tee Life Skills Experience is used to further enhance and instill the inherent values of the game of golf, and show participants how these values transfer into other aspects of their lives. Students are taught about responsibility, courtesy, how to make decisions by thinking about the possible consequences, how to set goals, how to define those goals, the importance of maintaining a positive attitude as well as the importance of showing respect for others.
* At what age can a person participate in The First Tee?
The First Tee Life Skills Experience is designed for young people ages 8-18; however, several of The First Tee Chapters offer modified programs for younger participants. All of The First Tee facilities are public facilities and have open times for participants of all ages.
* Where are The First Tee Learning Facilities?
The First Tee golf-learning facilities are located throughout the United States. There are also facilities and programs in several international locations. Please visit the locations map to find a facility near you.
* Where is The First Tee home office?
The First Tee home office is located at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla.
* How can I volunteer?
Volunteers are critical assets to local facilities. Since each facility is operated independently, volunteering needs will vary in number and purpose. For more information contact a facility near you.
* What is an Affiliate?
An Access Affiliate is a green grass golf facility that allows Chapter participants to play golf holes and use the driving range and practice areas at a reduced cost, but no Chapter programs are delivered at this location. By comparison, a Program Affiliate is defined as a green grass golf facility (9 or 18 hole course, driving range or other golf complex) located in the Chapter’s program service area that has agreed with the Chapter to provide access for delivery of the Life Skills Experience lessons to participants. The Chapter creates and manages Affiliate relationships as part of overall Chapter operations in their service area.
The primary difference between The First Tee Learning Facility and a Program Affiliate is that with a Learning Facility, the Chapter has at least a ten-year written lease or use agreement to conduct at least 250 hours of group programs at the golf facility under a business plan approved by The First Tee home office. With Program Affiliates, the Chapter does not have to meet these minimum access and use requirements.
Affiliates are an efficient way for Chapters to expand access and program locations and to increase involvement from the local golf community. The ultimate goal is to impact more young people through The First Tee Life Skills Experience.
* How can I donate to The First Tee?
There are a number of ways to donate to The First Tee and whether your gift is financial or material (equipment) it is certain to touch the lives of thousands of young people involved. If you are interested in donating to The First Tee, you may do so at either the local level or the national level through The First Tee home office.
