History of The First Tee

The First Tee is a World Golf Foundation initiative dedicated to providing  young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship.

The First Tee Supplier Program has been established in order to present meaningful discount offerings as a benefit to The First Tee Chapters.

The First Tee Trustees

The First Tee is reliant upon charitable contributions to carry out its mission. A large percentage of funds are contributed to us by our Trustees - individuals, corporations and foundations, which contribute a minimum of $1 million to the initiative.

The First Tee Nine Core Values

The First Tee has established Nine Core Values that represent some of the many inherently positive values connected with the game of golf.  The Nine Core Values are honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment.

2008 Annual Review

The First Tee 2008 Annual Review provides a summary of our impact on young people in 2008.  The 16-page publication includes a contributor’s insert, 2008 highlights and participation numbers, a section about what physical educators are saying about the impact of The First Tee National School Program, as well as short stories about two participants whose lives have been transformed by their involvement with The First Tee.

More Than A Game Brochure

The First Tee has come a long way since its establishment by the World Golf Foundation in 1997. What started as an initiative to create affordable access for those not previously exposed to the game has become a preeminent  positive youth development organization. Our Goals & Focus

The Phase III business plan was announced in February 2006 at The First Tee network meeting. The timeframe for Phase III is January 2006 through December 2010.
